Modern Day Hospital, Historical Location
The hospital is located at the site of a gift of four oak trees,
as documented in the Augustinian Historical Institute archives, dated 27th August 1250,
given to Huntingdon Friary, by King Henry III.
The original Friary was dissolved by Henry VIII on 20th February 1539.
The medieval building came into the possession of Sir Henry Cromwell of Hinchingbrooke in 1569,
later settling it on his son Robert as a wedding gift.
Oliver Cromwell was born here on 25 April, 1599 (see photo).
